Each time we crossed the Dalavapuram bridge, with Chavara Lake to its west and Ashtamudi Lake to its east, the very pretty St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church (Latin Rites) beckoned us.
Yesterday, we succumbed. And drove down the parish road to the Ashtamudi Lake side, and the church. The parish priest told us that the Church was built in the early 1800s.
The word ‘idyllic’ would have been created to describe this spot. Absolutely pretty, clean and neat the church faces the vast expanse of the Ashtamudi Lake. A few benches line the shore-walk
A bunch of school girls enjoying a rain-induced school holiday, a boy sitting alone and talking over the phone to someone about his preparations for the army selections, a man who has come along with a can of baits for fishing and was returning with a few worms less and no fish And us
The Ashtamudi was spread out in fron of us with Leons Landing and the St Sebastian Island trying, in vain, to break its vast expanse. And the rain held for 15 minutes for us to enjoy the view. And share it with you!
