A Gathering of Friends and Gardeners at Havisha in Pavumba

When we conceptualised Suma At the Nets (ok, that is the name of our homestay) we dreamt of it as a place where our friends, relatives, ex students, friends of friends and strangers would meet; a criss-crossing of networks of diverse (and similar !) folk.
And that is exactly what happened this week at Havisha (ok, that Is the name of the dwelling; of the house) in Pavumba (our adopted village ) in Kollam , Kerala .
I know Uma Shashikant from 1988! We used to work for Dr Prasanna Chandra (my IIMB thesis supervisor) at ICFAI Hyderabad . Smita Kumar is from the batch of 1997-99 Goa Institute of Management and Asha Varghese from the batch of 1989-91 Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneswar.
Uma is widely known and respected for her deep knowledge in Personal Finance, Kitchen Gardens and Food (what a combo no?) She came all the way from Atlanta to help with our garden (ok, since that is an overstatement let us say she decided to do some other things too while in India ). We were so happy to have had Uma staying with us for a couple of days.
Asha came in from Bangalore to bring us some heirloom seeds (including some banana pups) and to meet Uma (who she has been following in gardening groups). We were thrilled that Asha brought along her graceful mother in law who knew more about plants than all of us! Unfortunately , they could not stay over.
Smita, who stayed with us for a week cooking, cleaning and making us happy , is a gardener too, and is fresh from her farm experience in Auroville.
So here are the pics of Asha handing over the seeds at Havisha ; plant lovers all!
